After failing to make the playoffs for the first time in the last decade, the Boston Bruins will begin their 2025-26 campaign on the road against the Washington Capitals on Oct. 8. The home opener comes as part of the first back-to-back for Boston, with the Black and Gold hosting the Chicago Blackhawks at TD Garden on Oct. 9.

The Bruins released their official schedule for the upcoming season with the help of Massachusetts comedian Bill Burr on Wednesday. You can check out the full 82-game schedule here, but these are the must-see matchups that every Boston fan won’t want to miss.

Boston at Washington Capitals (Oct. 8)
This marks the start of the season for the B’s as they take on the NHL’s All-Time goal scorer Alex Ovechkin at Capital One Arena. Along with the prolific goal scorer, the Capitals are built similarly to Boston, with an emphasis on strong defensive play, particularly in shot suppression and preventing opponents from entering their zone. John Carlson and Jakob Chychrun lead the defensive corps for Washington.

Florida Panthers at Boston (Oct. 21)
The Bruins will welcome former captain Brad Marchand and the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions to TD Garden for the rivals’ only match-up in Boston. Marchand is one of the best players in Bruins history, and given the fans’ inability to welcome the likely first-ballot Hall of Fame forward back last season after he was traded to the Panthers at the deadline, expect not only a physical game but a raucous ovation in his first game back next season.

Boston at Montreal Canadiens (Nov. 15)
In one of the oldest rivalries in all of sports, it doesn’t matter what the records are or how good the players are. The Original Six matchup is always a must-see game, especially with the Canadiens becoming a playoff-caliber team again.

New York Rangers at Boston (Nov. 28)
The Black Friday matinee returns to TD Garden when the Bruins host the Rangers. Both of the Original Six franchises will have new bench bosses this season, with Marco Sturm leading the Black and Gold in Boston and Mike Sullivan taking the reins in the Big Apple. It’s one of 11 matinees on Boston’s itinerary.

Boston at Tampa Bay Lightning (Feb. 1)
The Bruins will compete in their sixth outdoor game when they face off against the Lightning in the 2026 Stadium Series at Raymond James Stadium. Boston has enjoyed playing outdoors, boasting an overall record of 4-1 in such contests, beginning with a 2-1 overtime thriller over the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park.

Other notable games include a home-and-home series against the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 8 and 11. The Bruins will face the new-look Leafs for the first time without Mitch Marner leading Toronto’s core four. Boston will also host Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche early in the season on Oct. 25. The defending Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers will visit the TD Garden on Dec. 18 during Boston’s five-game homestand before the holiday break.
