Joonas Korpisalo is slated to start

The Boston Bruins head to the Nation’s capital to take on the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena in the club’s penultimate preseason matchup before opening the regular season against the same opponents on Oct. 8.

Joonas Korpisalo is expected to get the start in net for the Black and Gold.

Last week, Korpisalo backed stopped the Boston to a 5-4 come-from-behind overtime win against the New York Rangers.

The 10-year veteran netminder played the entire game, making 33 saves on 37 shots. After allowing three goals on 18 shots in the second period, Korpisalo turned aside all seven he faced in the third period.

Johnny Beecher will suit up for the second straight game. The forward tallied an unassisted goal in Boston’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.

Boston has only made one set of roster cuts since the beginning of camp. The matchup against the Capitals could be the last opportunity for some of the younger players to force the Bruins to keep them with the big club.

Opening rosters are submitted to the league on Monday, which means any player who requires waivers to be sent down must be placed on waivers by Sunday at the latest for the team to not include them on their cap.

Here’s the Bruins’ full roster for the matchup with the Flyers, per the team:

Forwards: Johnny Beecher, Matej Blumel, Patrick Brown, Riley Duran, Brett Harrison, Mark Kastelic, Marat Khusnutdinov, Fabian Lysell, Georgii Merkulov, Matt Poitras, Alex Steeves, Riley Tufte

Defensemen: Jonathan Aspirot, Frederic Brunet, Michael Callahan, Jordan Harris, Henri Jokiharju, Mason Lohrei, Victor Soderstrom

Goaltenders: Michael DiPietro, Joonas Korpisalo, Simon Zajicek

Puck drop from Capital One Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
