The Boston Bruins were forced to finish their home-opener against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night with only five defensemen.
Hampus Lindholm logged 4:26 of ice time across six shifts before exiting the game in the first period.
The Bruins announced early in the second period that Lindholm would not return with a lower-body injury.
It’s unclear what injury Lindholm suffered against the Blackhawks.
Lindholm missed 65 games last season after suffering a knee injury against the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 12 after the veteran defenseman blocked a Justin Faulk shot which resulted in a fractured patella.
