Hampus Lindholm was on the ice for the Bruins’ optional practice at Warrior Ice Arena on Wednesday morning after missing Boston’s loss to the Florida Panthers the night before.

The defender participated in the team’s practice on Tuesday, but was unable to make a go of it come game time. Ironically, it was his replacement that landed on injured reserve.

The Bruins announced that Jordan Harris, who has filled in for Lindholm in the five games he’s missed, is headed to the IR with an undisclosed injury.

It’s unclear what or when Harris was hurt in Boston’s tilt with Florida. He finished the game with 15:20 across 21 shifts and recorded a shot with 2:49 remaining in regulation.

To fill Harris’ roster spot, the Bruins have recalled Michael Callahan from Providence. Marco Sturm told reporters he spoke with Providence head coach Ryan Mougenel after the game Tuesday about Callahan.

“He said right away, ‘he’s our best defenseman by far,’” Strum said, per team-provided audio. “So, we know we are getting a good, solid defensive game (from Callahan).”

Callahan played 17 games for Boston last season, averaging 14:09 of ice time with 12 blocks and eight hits.

Sturm added that Harris would undergo more tests on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury.
