Megan Keller has anchored the Boston Fleet’s blue line in the franchise’s first two PWHL seasons.
She will wear a new hat, well, actually, a new letter for the 2025-26 season.
The Fleet on Saturday named Keller the second captain in franchise history.
“This group brings an excellent balance of leadership to our locker room,” Fleet head coach Kris Sparre said in a release. “Megan is a highly competitive individual. She sets the standard for work, compete and how we want to act not only at the rink but in our community.”
Keller has amassed nine goals and 23 assists in 54 regular-season and eight playoff games for Boston, and was a PWHL Defender of the Year finalist in the league’s inaugural season.
“This is a huge honor,” Keller said in the release. “It’s so special to be a part of this team and especially this leadership group. It’s an important task at hand and I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity ahead.”
Forwards Jamie Lee Rattray and Alina Müller will join Keller in leadership roles as alternate captains.
“Alina brings a passion to the ice that shows her deep love for the game and her bond with Boston. She sets the standard for professionalism every day and is the kind of leader our players can model themselves after,” Sparre said. “Rattray is a veteran leader whose mentorship will be vital in our room. I have full confidence in their ability to guide the Fleet and set the competitive standard we expect every night.”
Rattray, 22 points in 54 regular-season and six playoff games, has served as alternate captain in Boston’s first two seasons and looks forward to continuing to lead her teammates on and off the ice.
“We’ve built something really special here and it’s shown over the past two years,” Rattray said. “I’m obviously super excited. We have a great group of people in our locker room and to be alongside these two is pretty special. We have some big things on the horizon and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Müller was selected third overall by the Fleet in the PWHL’s inaugural draft and has been offensive weapon for Boston since the first puck drop on Jan. 3, 2024. She’s tallied 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points throughout the first two seasons and will no doubt build on her legacy in the upcoming season.
“I’m very proud to be a part of this leadership group,” Müller said. “It’s very special. We were able to learn a lot last the past two years from our elite leaders paving the way. I can’t wait to do this with the whole team.”
The Fleet begin their preseason with two games against the Montreal Victoire on Nov. 15 and 17.
Boston will open its season at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass., on Nov. 23 against Montreal.
