The Boston Fleet signed Shay Maloney to a standard two-year contract extension, the team announced Monday.

Maloney was the fourth player Fleet general manager Danielle Marmer protected during the PWHL’s 2025 expansion draft process earlier in the offseason.

Selected by Boston in the sixth round of the 2024 PWHL draft, Maloney appeared in all 30 games for the Fleet last season. She recorded three goals and six assists and ranked ninth among rookies with nine points.

“We’re thrilled to have Shay Maloney re-sign with the Fleet for two more years,” Marmer said in a statement. “Shay plays the game the right way. She has great size and brings a physical presence, never hesitating to go to the hard areas of the ice. She’s a detailed, selfless player who always puts the team first. Shay truly embodies what Boston Fleet hockey is all about, and we couldn’t be more excited to keep her in Boston.”

Marmer also re-signed forwards Jill Saulnier and Theresa Schafzahl and defender Hadley Hartmetz to one-year Standard Player Agreements through the 2025-26 season.

While the Fleet roster is coming into focus ahead of the upcoming campaign, Marmer is still tasked with finding a new head coach following Courtney Kessel’s departure.

Kessel led the Fleet to an overall record of 27-19-8 in their first two seasons, as well as coming up one game shy of the inaugural Walter Cup championship in 2024.

The Fleet also have an opening at assistant general manager after Meghan Turner was hired as Seattle’s GM.
